Summer continues on for another month and there's still plenty of time to get outside in the great weather for outdoor activities! Temperatures may continue to stay warm but keep in mind that the days are getting shorter as we move towards fall. Please remember a few reminders about using these resources in your neighborhoods:
• Park hours are sunrise to sunset.
• Pets that are leashed are welcome in the parks, but please clean up after your pet
• Alcohol is not permitted on park property
• Do not litter in the parks -- help keep our parks clean for everyone’s enjoyment.
If you have any maintenance questions or concerns, please report them to the Parks Maintenance Division at 410.263.7993. When leaving a message, please be sure to state the park location and a brief description of the situation.

Picnic Pavilions are available for Rental
Truxtun Park has three (3) picnic pavilions available for rent year round. Groups of 10 or more must obtain a permit in advance. The maximum size group the pavilions will accommodate is 50 people. Pavilions are rented on a first come, first serve basis. For the safety and enjoyment for all park users, moon bounces nor amplified music are not permitted. Parks/pavilions close at sunset, therefore groups must vacate before that time. To reserve a pavilion, contact the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department PMRC (273 Hilltop Lane) or call 410.263.7958. Payment is required into order to hold your reservation.
Truxtun Park Boat Ramp
The Truxtun Park boat ramp is open year round from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Two, concrete ramps are available. There is a $5 fee per launch payable via Visa/MasterCard or annual pass only. No cash is accepted at the park. Fees apply all days of the year to any vessel launched from the ramps. No commercial use of ramp or beach area is permitted without written authorization. There is an ADA accessible parking spot adjacent to the boat ramps and an ADA walkway connecting a floating “L” shaped dock for boarding boats, canoes or kayaks. Annual passes are only sold in person at PMRC. Passes are valid during the City’s fiscal year (July 1st – June 30th). Daytime parking for vehicles/trailers and restroom facilities are available at the park.
From the National Park Service (February 2011), "A Promise to Future Generations"
Ten months ago, President Obama launched the America's Great Outdoors Initiative as a way to create a national dialogue about conservation in America. As part of this dialogue, we brought together ranchers, farmers and forest landowners, sportsmen and women, state and local government leaders, tribal leaders, public-lands experts, conservationists, youth leaders, business representatives, and others to learn about some of the smart, creative ways communities are conserving outdoor spaces.
Many people participated in the Listening Session held in Annapolis last June, contributing to the dialogue and the content of the final report. On February 16th, President Obama announced the release of the America's Great Outdoors report "A Promise to Future Generations".
Recognizing that the best ideas come from outside Washington, the report outlines ways in which the Federal Government will help empower local communities to accomplish their conservation and recreation priorities.
Please read the America's Great Outdoors Executive Summary or visit http://americasgreatoutdoors.gov/report/ to read the entire report.
