The Annapolis City Council generally meets on the second Monday at 7:30 p.m. and the fourth Monday at 7:00 p.m. of each month except during August when no meetings are held. The meetings are held in City Council Chambers, 2nd floor, City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.City Council Agendas are generally posted on this website about five days prior to the hearing. The Council, which consists of the Mayor and eight aldermen (one representing each of the City's eight wards) considers legislation which is brought before these elected officials--and the public-- in written form and usually must be discussed in public hearing prior to adoption. The Council generally considers three types of legislation:

 

 

 

A designation of O-1-05 would indicate that this legislation is the first ordnance to be introduced in calendar year 2005. Only legislation that has been adopted during the current year and the previous year are listed below. For legislation that is codified (that is, actually modified the City Code or Charter) may be found on this website under City Code. The Code is updated monthly so changes adopted on the second Monday in March should be codified by the second Monday in April.

R-14-09    The Continued Use of Public Schools for Polling Places in the Municipal Election - For the purpose of requesting that public school authorities allow schools which are used for polling places by the County Board of Elections to be used for polling places by the City’s Board of Supervisors of Elections in conducting this year’s municipal election; and, asking State legislators to review this matter to determine if State law concerning the use of schools for civic purposes needs to be clarified.

R-12-09    March Madness Sidewalk Sale in Downtown Annapolis - For the purpose of permitting the temporary sale of merchandise and non-alcoholic items in front of participating businesses on specified sidewalks in connection with the March Madness Sidewalk Sale organized by the Annapolis Business Association to be held on March 27, 28, and 29, 2009. O-20-07    Lease of City Dock - Annapolis Triathlon: For the purpose of authorizing a lease of certain municipal property located in the Susan Campbell Park and City Dock areas to the Annapolis Triathlon, a non-profit entity for period September 8 and 9, 2007, subject to certain terms, provisions, and conditions, for the purpose of conducting a triathlon; and all matters relating to said lease.

O-15-07    Annual Operating Budget: FY 2008: For the purpose of adopting an operating budget for the City of Annapolis for the Fiscal Year 2008; appropriating funds for expenditures for the Fiscal Year 2008; defraying all expenses and liabilities of the City of Annapolis and levying same for the purposes specified; specifying certain duties of the Director of Finance; specifying a rate of interest to be charged upon overdue property taxes; and all matters generally relating to said budget and property tax rate.

O-2-07    Lease of City Dock Space to Chesapeake Marine Tours for 2013: For the purpose of authorizing for fiscal year 2013 the lease of certain municipal property located at the City Dock to Chesapeake Marine Tours, Inc. for the docking and mooring of certain boats at the City Dock; and all matters relating to said lease.

O-1-07    Lease of City Property: Boat Shows in 2009, 2010 and 2011: For the purpose of authorizing a lease of certain municipal property located in the general harbor, Dock Street and Edgewood Road areas to United States Yacht Shows, Inc. and Annapolis Boat Shows, Inc., bodies corporate, for a certain period of time in October 2009, October 2010, and October 2011, subject to certain terms, provisions and conditions, for the purpose of conducting boat shows; and all matters relating to said lease.
