All City buildings are now closed to the public. EXCEPT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. Residents may still come to the police department on Taylor Avenue.
All public meetings and City-sponsored public events on City property are canceled.
All City permitted events (private events on city or private property) with estimated attendance of more than 10 people have been canceled or postponed. Violation of the order to shut down is subject to imprisonment or fine not to exceed $5,000 per the office of the Governor.
All City permitted events (private events on private property) with estimated attendance of fewer than 50 people are canceled or postponed.
Private events on private property that do not require a permit are up to the event host to cancel or postpone. No current state of emergency laws apply to their cancellation, but hosts are asked to follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and prevention (keeping people six feet apart, frequent hand washing, sanitizing surfaces, etc).
During this time, the payment window at City Hall is closed to the public. You may:
- Make a payment online;
- Call the office at 410-263-7953 to make a credit card payment;
- Mail payment by US Postal Service to “Finance” 160 Duke of Gloucester, Annapolis MD 21401’ or
- Put your payment in an envelope and drop in the drop box located to the left of the front door of City Hall at 160 Duke of Gloucester in Annapolis.

"Pip" Moyer Recreation Center and the Stanton Center are closed to the public until further notice. All league sports and after school activities are canceled during the City-declared State of Emergency. The recreation center will be thoroughly cleaned during this closure. Stanton Center is closed and will be thoroughly cleaned during the closure. The parks division will remain operational. City parks are open but residents are reminded to practice social distancing. City playgrounds are closed.
The City Clerk’s office is operational during the City’s closure for COVID-19, but the Clerk’s office at City Hall is closed to the public. If you need a City of Annapolis-issued license, permit or renewal, please call the Clerk’s office 410-263-7942 for details. Forms are available online and can be submitted by email.
By Executive Order #16, the City’s liquor license renewal requirement will be delayed for 90 days. Liquor license holders will still be able to sell liquor under this policy even though their existing licensure date may have passed. The 90 days may be extended depending on the length of the declared local State of Emergency.
Due to the steady decline in ridership, effective Monday, March 30, ADOT will begin operating on a modified Saturday schedule, with no evening Purple Route bus. We will continue to operate the State Shuttle service until 8:00 PM. Below is a public advisory notice and a notice that will be posted on our buses and in bus shelters.
ADOT further reduces bus service due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Effective Monday March 30, 2020, the City of Annapolis Transit System will reduce its bus service as follows:
Weekdays (Monday - Friday) ADOT will operate a modified Saturday bus schedule. There will be no evening Purple Route Bus.
Bus service will begin at 7:15AM and conclude at 6:50PM. The State Shuttle will operate until 8:00PM

The Permit Counter in Planning and Zoning at Gorman Street will be closed to the public until further notice. The Department will be open and operating via phone and email. Inspections will be ongoing, but may be limited due to staffing levels as we work to maintain the public health as well as limit exposure for City staff.
All Department of Public Works offices are closed to the public until further notice. Water and other DPW services including garbage and recycling pickup will continue without interruption. Permit processing will continue via phone and email.
The Human Resources office is operational during the City’s closure for COVID-19, but the office on Gorman Street is closed to the public. City employees should check the City employee portal for frequently asked questions. Employees should check with their department directors for leave policies and telework options during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.
POLICE AND FIRE:The Annapolis Police and Fire departments are open and operating as normal during the City’s closure for COVID-19. The Police Department is open to the public. The station on Taylor Avenue has a lobby that keeps it separated from the other offices.
OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: The Emergency Operations Center is activated. The Call Center (410-260-2211) is open as of Monday morning at 8 a.m.
ALL OTHER CITY SERVICES: The Mayor’s Office, City Manager, Harbormaster, Purchasing, Economic Development, Environmental Policy, and Office of Law are closed to the public, but are staffed for availability to the public by phone or email.
