City of Annapolis to Open Warming Center at
Stanton Center in Annapolis on Tuesday and Wednesday

Annapolis, MD (November 12, 2019) – The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in the 20s during overnight hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mayor Gavin Buckley has announced that the Stanton Center will open Tuesday, November 12 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Wednesday, November 13 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. as an overnight warming center for individuals who need this service. Referrals should report to the Stanton Center by 9 p.m. to check-in.

Any individuals interested in long term shelter or support should contact Justin Bieler of the Department of Social Services at (410) 269-4749. The Stanton Center is located at 92 W. Washington Street in Annapolis.

“It is early in the season and some may not believe it should be this cold this soon,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “But we are opening the warming center because the wind chills and the cold temperatures together make it dangerous to be outside.”

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the Office of Emergency Management at 410-216-9167 during and after normal business hours.

The National Weather Service is calling for an overnight low on Tuesday of around 25 degrees with a Northwest wind at 11 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 26 mph. Scattered snow flurries are expected between 8 and 11 p.m. On Wednesday, the high temperature is expected in the mid-30s with a Northwest wind at 6 to 10 mph. Wednesday overnight will have a low around 27 with Southeast winds 3 to 5 mph.
