AAEDC’s Annual Business Appreciation Week 

Business Appreciation Week is 4/23-4/27. Ambassador groups will take part in more than 35 visits to businesses large and small around the county – including the City Annapolis. The visits provide an opportunity for ambassadors to listen to concerns and suggestions from the business community. Lauch Annapolis Celebrates FounderTrac Demo Day  

FounderTrac culminates in a Demo Day on Tuesday, April 3 at Loews Hotel. It is a public event attended by investors, press, entrepreneurs and other members of the startup community where the FounderTrac teams will pitch their projects. It is an amazing opportunity to get exposure and attract the resources that they need to take their companies to the next level – some are expected to exit companies at $100M in revenues within five years. The Maryland Healthy Working Families Act

The Maryland Healthy Working Families Act is now in effect. It requires employers with 15 or more employees to provide paid sick leave and safe leave for certain employees. In an effort to help small businesses comply, Governor Hogan formed the Office of Small Business Regulatory Assistance. Take Part in GreenScape 2018

GreenScape is a city and community partnership investment of beautification, cleanup, and planting in public spaces throughout the City of Annapolis. Since 1991, hundreds of projects have been initiated and adopted by individuals, community groups and neighborhood associations. This year GreenScape will be held on Saturday, April 21. Find more information here

AAWDC's Summer YouthWorks! Seeking Internship Placements

The Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) is looking to place and match a total of 150 Interns with summer employment opportunities. AAWDC's 2018 Summer YouthWorks! program provides Anne Arundel County's high school youth with career exposure, essential workplace skills training, financial literacy, and a meaningful six-week, paid work experience. Second Chance Job Fair Provides Employment Opportunities 

The City’s very successful Second Chance Job Fair, in conjunction with AAWDC, will take place again on Wednesday, April 25, 10:00am-2:00pm, Pip Moyer Recreation Center at Truxtun Park, 273 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, MD; Cost: Free. A pre-event will be held on Monday, April 23 at the Stanton Center to assist job seekers in preparing for the job fair (including ways to prepare for the hiring event, adjusting to life on the outside, resume writing, and dressing for success.)

Maryland Small Business Development Financing Authority (MSBDFA)
MSBDFA promotes the viability and expansion of businesses owned by economically and socially disadvantaged entrepreneurs. MSBDFA uses include working capital, supplies and materials, machinery and equipment acquisition, land acquisition or real estate improvements. Other uses include the purchase of an existing franchise, construction or renovation and franchise fees or obtaining bid, performance and payment bonds for contracts, which receive the majority of their funding from federal, state or local government.

MSBDFA clients include all small businesses unable to obtain adequate business financing on reasonable terms through normal financing channels. Learn more here
