Annapolis Among the South's Prettiest Cities 

Annapolis is #4 on Southern Living magazine’s The South’s Prettiest Cities 2018 list and is the only city on the list from Maryland, as decided on by 32,000 readers.

Arundel Defense Tech Toolbox Next Stage Tech Fund Loans 

AAEDC has approved Next Stage Tech Fund Loans for five local technology companies through the signature component of its Arundel Defense Tech Toolbox. The Next Stage Tech Fund offers zero percent loans from $50,000 to $250,000 that can be structured with flexible payment terms between one to five years to accommodate a company’s cash flow. The Arundel Defense 2 Tech Toolbox is aimed at assisting technology companies with gross revenue of less than $5 million and fewer than 100 employees.  If interested, contact AAEDC Business Development Associate Sarah Purdum at (410)222-7410, or spurdum@aaedc.org.

New Small Business Loans Available 

The new 25-year SBA 504 LOAN is now available! Mid-Atlantic CDC Business Finance Group (serving MD) is now accepting applications for the new 25-year 504 Loan. It allows for as little as a 10% equity down payment with a fixed 25-year interest rate to help small businesses preserve valuable working capital. The maximum 504-loan amount is $5M and can be used to purchase commercial real estate, develop property, acquire equipment, expand and modernize businesses. 

Maryland Business Express Website Launches 

The new Maryland Business Express Website is intended to make it easier to Plan, Start, Manage, and Grow a Business in Maryland. It includes a digital assistant designed to communicate with and deliver guidance to Marylanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Maryland OneStop Statewide Licensing Portal 

The new Maryland OneStop statewide licensing portal now provides citizens with a single point of entry to access hundreds of licenses across state government agencies that issue licenses or permits, from hunting licenses and fishing permits to drivers’ licenses and commercial permits

IRS Sharing Economy Tax Center

The new IRS Sharing Economy Tax Center was designed to help small business owners that may be part of the sharing economy, including ride sharing, freelancing, renting a spare bedroom and crowd funding, find the information they need to meet their tax obligations.

FounderTrac Opens Applications for Fall 

FounderTrac, the Maryland-based startup accelerator that operates out of Annapolis is opening applications for its Fall 2018 Cohort. The accelerator helps the region‘s top startups raise capital, learn from a proven curriculum and utilize one-on-one mentoring from exited entrepreneurs and successful c-level executives to quickly scale their companies.

During Anne Arundel Business Appreciation Week, ambassador groups, made up of representatives from the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, various county agencies and other professionals from the public and private sector, visited businesses of all sizes in the County. The visits provided an opportunity for ambassadors to listen to concerns and suggestions from the business community. Most importantly, the visits were a chance to thank local business owners and entrepreneurs for their investment in the county.
