Community Development Block Grant Public Hearing

The City of Annapolis Housing and Community Development Committee (HCDC) will conduct a public hearing at its regular meeting on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. The purpose of the hearing is to inform the public of the City's CDBG program progress and to receive testimony on CDBG project proposals submitted for local FY 2020 CDBG funds. Copies of project proposals are available for review during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., in he Department of Planning and Zoning, 145 Gorman Street 3rd floor, Annapolis, MD 21401. 

Ready, Set, GROW! Procurement Connections Workshop

Are you interested in contracting opportunities with government agencies? If so, then the Ready, Set, GROW! Procurement Connections Workshop is for you. Join the Governor's Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs with special guest Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford for an overview of how small, minority, women, and veteran procurement programs work. You'll learn what buyers are looking for right now and what's in the pipeline, then meet with them one-on-one during the open networking session. You can also connect with a variety of resource partners who can help your small business thrive.

2019 Annual Reports/Personal Property Tax Returns Now Available

The 2019 Annual Reports and/or Personal Property Tax Returns are now available from the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. All domestic and foreign business entities must file an Annual Report and/or Personal Property Tax Return by April 15th in order to remain in good standing status. The quickest and easiest way to submit these filings is through the department’s award-winning Maryland Business Express site. In order to maintain good standing status, all business entities formed, qualified, or registered to do business in Maryland must file an Annual Report every year.

Creativity Grant Applications Now Open 

The purpose of the Creativity Grant Program is to strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations to maintain a strong and stable arts infrastructure in the State of Maryland. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Applicants may only submit one application per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Please read the guidelines thoroughly prior to completing the application to confirm eligibility and timeline.

Marine & Maritime Career Expo

Interested in a robust future in the Marine and Maritime workforce? Save the date for the 9th Annual Marine and Maritime Career Expo, hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club Foundation. The expo will be happening Saturday, February 23rd at Annapolis High School. This year there will be over 50 exhibitors on site discussing great opportunities available in the marine and maritime industry. Join this unique 3 hour event to talk with the men, women, and student peers who will share information on career paths that span apprenticeship, technical training and college degrees.

WABA Offers Relief for Furloughed Workers and Locals in Need 

Lend a helping hand to local families suffering from the furlough. Although the partial government shutdown is temporarily suspended, it will take some time for families to catch up after a month with no wages. The West Annapolis Business Affiliation will be holding a donation drive on place February 23, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm at participating businesses. You can drop off your donations at Art Things Weems Creek Nursery School Annapolis Pediatrics Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate The J. Elevated Water Storage Tank Improvements

The Central Purchasing Office of the City of Annapolis is accepting sealed bids for repair and painting services. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, replacing elevated water storage tank altitude valves; locating, identifying and replacing isolation and bypass yard valves; upgrading tank instruments; recoating valve vault piping and components at five Elevated Water Storage Tanks.

Water Distribution Design-Build Projects

The Central Purchasing Office of the City of Annapolis is accepting sealed Proposals for Owner’s Representative (OR) professional services for Water Distribution Design-Build projects until 2:00 PM, local time, Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The scope of services includes, but is not limited to, Owner’s Representative for multiple phases of the execution of water distribution system Design-Build projects including design review, project management and construction inspection.

Workforce Training Grant

Looking to expand your business? Apply for a grant to grow and train your workforce.
Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation’s Workforce Training Grant:

  • Matching grant program
  • Eligible uses include: on-the-job training, classroom/ offsite training, purchasing training software, and train-the-trainer scenarios
  • Though designed primarily to train employees of companies that are expanding or plan to relocate to Anne Arundel County, AAEDC will consider other types of employee training for the program
  • Can reimburse companies for training completed at Anne Arundel Community College or other certified vendors
  • AAEDC will cover up to 50% of approved training costs
  • Employer conducts and pays for training and submits all paperwork to AAEDC to get the 50% match reimbursed
  • A limit of $1,000 per employee to be covered by AAEDC
  • AAEDC must review and approve workforce training plan before it is eligible for reimbursement
