Youth Winter Basketball League Registration – still can register; just $20 more for registration
The 2020 winter basketball season is coming up… register for clinics and leagues and be part of this very popular Annapolis Recreation and Parks program! Practices start in December and games start in January. Volunteer coaches are needed! For details, please refer to the beige box on page 9 of the Winter Program Guide. For team registration or more information, please contact LaKeisha Simmons.

Breakfast with Santa  – Seeking Donations for Saturday, December 21 event
Sponsored by Koons Toyota of Annapolis and the staff of Annapolis Recreation and Parks, the annual Breakfast for Santa will be held Saturday, December 21 from 9 am to noon at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center.
***REGISTRATION IS CLOSED*** However, we are accepting donations for the event – new toys and monetary contributions that will be used towards purchasing toys (donations are tax deductible with Social Clubs hosting the event.) For more information, please contact Melissa Brown.
 
Scholarship Program  for all City Residents (youth and adults)
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) maintains a Scholarship Fund for youth and adults who are City of Annapolis residents who do not have the financial means to participate in fee-based ARPD recreational programs, memberships and pool passes as long as applicable and approved. (Scholarship funds cannot be used for facility rentals, before/after school child care and “co-sponsored” programs.) Scholarships are awarded by means of account credit, and may or may not cover the entire cost of the program(s). Details about the ARPD Scholarship Program and how to apply can be found online. Winter program registration for classes starting in January has started! The winter 2020 program guide is online! Registering for Programs:
  • New Program Registration and payments must be done in person at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center (PMRC). You MUST bring a valid ID and proof of residency if you live within City of Annapolis limits.
  • Already Enrolled Participants may pay for program registration and childcare over the phone using a credit card as long as no paperwork is needed to complete the transaction.
  • Online Registration is NOW available!

PMRC Thanksgiving Holiday Hours:

Two new fitness classes – Movement for Motion and Pickleball Fitness!
  • Movement for Motion – Do you struggle to keep up with the kids, sweat walking the dog or wonder if today is going to be the day I fall? This program is designed especially for people with Parkinson's disease, other movement disorders or people who fear falling. Taught by a certified therapist who works on rewiring the mechanisms of the brain so better healthy movement is possible!

    • Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-1:30 pm in Studio A
  • Pickleball Fitness – We all know how infectious and just plain fun pickleball is! Join us for a fitness class aimed at agility, speed, strength and endurance as you can get the most out of your pickleball game whatever your level or goals.

    • Held Thursdays, 12:30-1:30 pm in Aux Gym 
Studio B is closed for repairs indefinitely. Fitness classes now take place in new locations (Studio A, Aux Gym or Meeting Room 1). With the rain in recent days, the City of Annapolis Public Works Department is determining that the repaired leak is thoroughly fixed before proceeding to the reconstruction of the flooring.
 
Fitness Class Schedule – The fitness class schedule now indicates which room each class is being held. Next to each class time, you will see an A, Aux, C, Track or 1 to indicate the class location being held in Studio A, Aux Gym, Cycling Studio, Indoor Track or Meeting Room 1, respectively. Rock Wall  Open Climb Hours:
Regular hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12 to 7 pm
Please check postings at the rock wall for up-to-date information. Cancellations are posted at the Front Desk.

Job Readiness Center – This OIC Job Readiness Center provides free Basic Computer Classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm. This is an ongoing course offered every three months. Please call OIC at 443.433.5894 for the next course start date.
Adult Basic Skills Classes are offered at the Stanton Community Center. They are held Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. The fall classes begin this month. For test preparation classes, please call 410.777.1823 or go to Adult Basic Skills Classes. To be eligible for free ABS classes, students must be 16 years or older and officially withdrawn from high school.

Your help is needed to plant the hillside at Truxtun Park! Help us plant 6,000 native trees, shrubs, perennials and ground covers. these plantings will stabilize the existing slope behind the pool and reduce stormwater runoff into Spa Creek. tools and gloves will be provided.
