    It has been identified that there is a critical need for a community-based coalition in the zip codes 21401 and 21403 located in Annapolis, Maryland. Overall, Anne Arundel County’s most significant health issues are found in our very own community of Annapolis. As stated in the Anne Arundel Community Health Assessment of Need (CHNA), the city of Annapolis is ranked 2nd highest for alcohol consumption and abuse for ages 12 to 20. In the summer of 2016, Serenity Sistas’ Inc. developed a partnership with Restoration Community Development Corporation (RCDC) to form the ASAP Coalition. The Annapolis Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) coalition will work in the community promoting public health, safety, and wellness for Annapolis families and community members.

  4. Free NAADAC Webinar - Healing Addiction and Shame Through Self-Compassion

    Shame is a common denominator that runs deep through people struggling with substance use disorders. Only when shame is brought to light can it be healed through empathy and self-compassion. Utilizing the research of Brené Brown, Kristin Neff, and Tim Desmond, this workshop will discuss components and functions of shame and self-compassion from a scientific and philosophical framework and provide resources for specific tools for utilizing self-compassion in the therapy room. Learning Objectives Gain an ability to differentially define concepts such as shame, guilt, self-compassion and self-esteem and how these relate to addiction. Demonstrate an understanding of the components of self-compassion and how they affect the psyche. Utilize mindfulness and self-compassion to manipulate psychic distress through visualizations and simple somatic interventions.

  1. Maryland Safe Boating Course held June 17 & June 19

    June 17, 2019, 6:00 PM - June 19, 2019, 10:00 PM @ "Pip" Moyer Recreation Center at Truxtun Park (PMRC)

    This eight-hour course and test satisfies Maryland law for local people to operate any motorized boat in Maryland waters. The course covers legal requirements, navigation rules, preparation and trailers, accidents, weather and water conditions, water sports, sailing and personal watercraft. Led by trained professionals and DNR, this course is for ages 10+. Children 14 years and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Held in PMRC Meeting Room 1.
